Senior Estimator - West Yorkshire

Our client are an international construction contractor who are looking for Senior Estimator to join their regional office in West Yorkshire. They work on a variety of projects including new build commercial, industrial, Education and healthcare projects.

The ideal individual will have experience of working within the industrial, commercial, residential, and retail sectors. Working on multi million £ estimates alongside commercial teams.

Roles, responsibilities and qualifications:

· Review of tender documentation

· Working with supply chain to provide accurate tenders

- Experience of Estimating Software packages

· Review of supply chain tender returns

· Preparation of budget costings

· Providing sales and estimating documentation

· Working directly with the clients

· Internal QA handover packs, subsequent to contract awards

· Attendance of internal pre-start meetings, subsequent to contract awards

- Managing other Estimators

· Educated to degree qualification in quantity surveying

· Conversant in software packages such as Microsoft excel, word, outlook and notable construction estimating software packages

· Main contracting experience

· Excellent communication and organisational skills

- Driving licence

We are working with a Main Contractor who are recruiting a Senior Estimator for their Water Contracts in the South East.

Key Competencies

Experience Required

* Proven track record of successful bidding and securing projects
* Experience in leading and mentoring a team of estimators
* Familiarity within the utility sector

Essential Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
* In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry best practices

Desirable Qualifications

* Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) software

Role Purpose

The Senior Estimator plays a crucial role in the pre-construction phase, ensuring accurate and competitive project cost estimates in line with relevant company policies and processes. This role is essential in supporting the companys growth by securing profitable projects through comprehensive and well-informed bidding processes.

Role Summary

* Be able to carry out take-offs from drawings / BIM CAD models.
* Be able to build up rates for labour, plant, material, subcontract from first principles.
* Responsible for ensuring all tender deliverables are met within defined timescales.
* Understand contract requirements, specifications, obligations, roles and responsibilities.
* Complete tender appraisals within required timescales.
* Prepares / prices tender submissions with most advantageous, accurate nett bids in line with any framework agreements / rates.
* Communicate any issues within individual tenders or groups of bids that will present operational challenges or expose the company to increased risk.
* Ensure tenders make sufficient allowance for health and safety issues.
* Ensure tenders reflect realistic programmes for the delivery of the project.
* Lead and mentor the estimating team.
* Carry out any other duties appropriate to this post
