Job Title: Multi Skilled Mechanically Biased Engineer
Our client is seeking experienced multi skilled engineer to join the maintenance team at the University of Glasgow. The successful candidate will work within outlined SLA's to ensure the upkeep of the University as required Responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, and compliance of M&E plant, equipment, and fabric services across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily operations, maintenance, and repairs of site M&E systems.
Oversee CAFM system performance and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001/14001 and QHSE standards.
Supervise specialist contractors and validate RAMS.
Conduct audits, manage non-compliances, and support continuous improvement initiatives..
Support client requirements and handle out-of-hours operational queries.
Skills & Experience:
City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in mechanical discipline.
Minimum 2 years in a similar role with strong M&E experience.
Knowledge of BMS, CAFM systems, statutory compliance, and business-critical systems (e.g., UPS, comms rooms).
Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

We are looking for an experienced Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer to undertake the maintenance and repair of air conditioning equipment. This includes service, maintenance, and repair of split AC systems, VRV/VRF systems and heat pumps. You may also be required to work on specific refrigeration equipment such as chilled cabinets / multideck or ice machines.
Qualifications & Experience
Candidates will have a full current driving licence and be willing to participate in an On-Call rota. You'll be capable of performing manual tasks, including manual handling, working at heights and in confined spaces.
The ideal candidate will have experience within a Maintenance / Facilities Management environment. You must have relevant qualifications e.g., FGAS & ODS regs, time served apprenticeship, C&G Level 3 / NVQ or equivalent. Also, knowledge of Health & Safety, Permit to Work procedures and safe systems of working. You will be provided opportunities for training, development, progression, and internal promotions. Maintenance Engineer-Mechanical Bias
Permanent
Undertake maintenance and reactive activity, to a wide range of Mechanical Building Services equipment including but not limited to heating boilers, pumps, compressed air systems, sanitary ware, fan coil and air handling units and BMS systems and other equipment found in modern commercial/industrial premises.
Undertake within your levels of competency inspection and reactive activity to a wide range of Electrical Building Services equipment including but not limited to general lighting, building controls, small power and distribution, BMS systems and other equipment found in modern commercial/industrial premises
Be an essential part of the local team who will ensure the safe operation and repair of all M&E building services and fabric equipment on the site.
Take part in a rota to provide a reactive maintenance service outside operating hours of the site.
To work within a shift system to provide a core presence at client sites within an extended weekday period.
To undertake weekend/out of hours working to complete intrusive maintenance activites that cannot be undertaken in client operating hours.
Working in line with the Permit to Work System.
To implement systems that will ensure plant is maintained and operated to its optimum efficiency.
Participate in departmental energy saving schemes and promote the understanding and importance of the economic use of energy.
Take part in Appraisals/Performance Reviews including the recognition of training and development needs.
Monitor site performance of sub-contractors and report poor performance.
Use of IT systems (Handheld device) as part of the CAFM system.
Work in line with issued Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
Knowledge, skills and experience
HND or NVQ or equivalent in a relevent subject
IOSH Passport or CSCS Card
5 years experience in mechanical building services and plant engineering with a working knowldge of electrical systems.
(Preferred but not essential) Previous appointment as AP/CP for one or more of the following disciplines, Boilers and Pressure systems, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces
Experience of Construction Design Management Regulations (CDM).
Excellent communications both written and verbal.
Numerate and computer literate.

My client are recruiting a Multi Skilled Engineer to join the team located in Darlington.
The successful candidate will perform Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance to both Plant, Equipment and Building Services.
Role Summary:
Identify and manage the risks to the client through the equipment on site, including updating drawings, identifying critical spares, improving performance of machinery, improving and implementing the preventative maintenance program
Using new equipment and technologies to maintain a working production environment liaising with the client on any requests for certain machinery PPM's
Fault finding on all types of Machinery
Support others in the department in relation to Health and Safety
Provide Electrical and Mechanical expertise to the Maintenance Department working on Heavy Industrial Machines and Overhead Cranes
Write and follow Risk Assessments and be available to question any issues which arise from them safely and accurately
Completion of the required documentation as specified with the requirements of all rules and legislation
Work on Three Phase Systems with Voltages up to 440V
Working on Motors, Gearboxes, Valves encompassing Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Electrical Systems
Use Mobile Devices to accurately project and complete any works from the CAFM Maintenance System
Use of emailing / calendars to plan your daily work requirements so that all tasks are completed effortlessly and efficiently.
Liaise with onsite Site Services to manage any Building Services related issues, responding confidently and accurately as required
To be the responsible person when required for the department and deputise the Shift Leader during annual leave or sickness
To work overtime as and when the business requires, this may include nights and weekends to which notice may not always be given
Perform adhoc duties as and when required
Experience Required:
A Recognised or Time Served Apprenticeship
Strong proven experience in manufacturing maintenance
Electrical Competences / Qualifications to a minimum or equivalent to City and Guilds 236 Pt 1-2 Electrical qualifications to 17th Edition
Mechanical Competences / Qualifications to an acceptable standard to City and Guild's Mechanical
Good multi skilled ability
Experience working on 3 phase motors, drives and inverters
Hydraulic / Pneumatic Experience
Ability to fault find
PLC Diagnostics / Repair Competencies
NVQ Qualifications to Level 2, Electrical and Mechanical
Ability to supervise contractors
Able to write Risk and Method Statements
