We're seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support refurbishment projects based in Derby, the successful candidate will be responsible for cost control, procurement, valuations, and commercial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of project cost control from inception to final account
Prepare valuations, variations, and interim applications
Handle subcontractor procurement and commercial management
Work closely with the Site Manager and client-side stakeholders
Ensure accurate commercial reporting and forecasting
Requirements:
Proven experience as a QS on commercial refurbishment projects
Strong knowledge of construction contracts and cost management
Excellent negotiation and analytical skills
Ability to travel between Warwick and Nottingham as required
Experience in utilities or infrastructure projects is a plus
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar (or equivalent experience)
Member of or working towards MRICS/CIOB (preferred but not essential)
Experience in commercial refurbishments, ideally within infrastructure or utilities
Strong knowledge of JCT/NEC contracts
Proficient in Excel and industry-standard QS software

The Candidate - must be capable of delivering the project reporting into a contract manager and be able to do trade management, site inductions, raise permits, tool box talks, work to tight deadlines, influence H&S on site, Q/A etc.

Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the day-to-day management of the businesses rural estate, including agricultural tenancies, grazing licences, and land leases.
* Support the delivery of rural land valuations, rent reviews, and property inspections under supervision.
* Contribute to estate management plans and environmental stewardship initiatives.
* Assist in maintaining accurate records, GIS mapping, and asset databases.
* Liaise with tenants, contractors, stakeholders, and members of the public in a professional and courteous manner.
* Help ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, such as health and safety and land use legislation.
* Support senior surveyors with project work, including rural diversification, estate rationalisation, and development appraisals.
What We're Looking For
* A degree (or working towards) in Rural Estate Management, Land Management, or a related RICS-accredited subject.
* Ideally some practical experience in a land or property role, such as through a placement or internship (desirable, not essential).
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
* A proactive and organised approach, with attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
* A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (or ability to travel between sites as required).
