Building Surveyor required for 3-6 month assignment with a Local Authority !
* upto £40.00 Umbrella , Inside IR35
The role :
you'll undertake extensive building contract administration, preparation of legal contract tender documentation, specification, supervision and monitoring of capital contracts for Council owned Housing.
* Carry out inspections of void and tenanted properties to agree work specifications.
* Responsible for the delivery of a customer focused reactive maintenance service. Proactively engaging with residents to provide support, advice and interventions to ensure that properties are effectively maintained, all repairs are undertaken promptly and to high standards, contractors are monitored and supervised ensuring performance targets are achieved and high levels of customer satisfaction is attained
Main Duties
* To undertake feasibility studies and stock condition surveys!
* To provide regular updates of expenditure on capital budgets and performance of the services.
* Monitor and supervise contractors to ensure an effective and efficient delivery.
* To prepare and present regular progress and performance of contracts following monthly contract meetings
* To be responsible for dealing with any customer complaints.
* To assist in the identification of properties and schemes requiring future planned maintenance programmes.
* To carry out pre and post inspections of void properties and prepare detailed schedule of works for contractors, obtain necessary quotations in accordance with the Councils Procurement Rules
* Carry out surveys of specialist projects/works and compile information to assist with the preparation of specifications and other contract documents, including measured surveys.
* To ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and respond quickly to actions arising from the Council's legal obligations, .e.g. Section 82's and Section 11 requirements
* To carry out all duties with a working knowledge of Health and Safety

Overview : To undertake a full range of Project Management & Building Surveying duties and responsibilities, as required in order to maintain and improve the Council's property portfolio and housing stock in relation to fire safety improvement works and works to meet the climate change agenda, ensuring that the Council's responsibilities and duties as landlord and service provider are upheld in line with current and pending legislation.
* Planning, specification, procurement, implementation, management, and delivery of a variety of planned work projects and planned and cyclical maintenance contracts to any Council asset undertake stock condition surveys, measured surveys, defect inspections, project management or post-inspections and prepare project feasibility studies, reports, , to ensure that the Council's assets are maintained in good condition and in compliance with all relevant statutory or regulatory responsibilities.
* To provide a point of contact for clients and customers in relation to specified project management works for the council housing stock.
Skills : Experience of project managing major works with customers in their homes or business premises. Undertaking building surveys and planning and managing the resultant works.
HNC, HND, Degree relevant to the built environment or a proven track record and 3 years experience of working for an LA, housing provider or other appropriate provider in a relevant field.
